Jeder sollte diesen Link auf seinen Seiten veröffentlichen. Würde mir so etwas gestohlen, wäre ich froh, wenn es weiter verbreitet wird. Immerhin kann man an gestohlenen Sachen niemals Eigentum erwerben, da kann man noch so gutgläubig sein.

Hallo Andreas,

das ist sehr bedauerlich und ich sehe das genauso wie Bernd. Ich kenne das ja zur genüge. Ca. 20 Mineralien wurden 1999 damals aus meinem Keller gestohlen, mehrere Einbrüche habe ich insgesamt schon hinter mir, sodass ich jetzt wie "Fort Knox" inkl. "scharfer Hunde" gebunkert bin.. .. was sind denn das eigentlich für Leute auf dem einen Foto? Das werden doch sicher nicht die Diebe sein oder?    .. "meine Diebe" waren nämlich auch so unverfroren, dass sie noch ihre "Visitenkarten" sichtbar im Keller anbrachten.  Noch heute versuche ich diesem Drecks...k von Bauspekulant und Vermieter den Kelleraufbruch und Diebstahl von damals nachzuweisen ..

Gary tickerte gerade über die US-Liste die folgenden zusätzlichen Infos:

Aloha all,

On March 6, I alerted the meteorite community about a theft that occurred of my meteorites from my office at the UH Institute for Astronomy in Hilo Hawaii (http://www.mail-archive.com/meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com/msg104614.html).

Through cloaked email accounts, I was contacted by a person claiming to have purchased my meteorites from an intermediary and was looking to return them to their owner, of course for a "reward".  Something didn't feel right and I ultimately refused to deal with him.

Local law enforcement and the FBI have been contacted about this case.  

The suspect will most likely be looking to sell these meteorites.  He mentioned dumping them off to his brother in Mexico, but he could be trying to sell them anywhere.  Please keep an eye out for these specimens.

Der Dieb oder jemand der mit ihm Kontakt hat(te) ist also aktuell darum bemüht, die Stücke an den Mann zu bringen.

Two months ago i discovered them missing from my office at the Institute for Astronomy, and reported the crime to the local police and FBI. Both were helpful, but they did not appear to be making any progress in the case, and I accepted my loss and turned away from it.

Last week, I discovered them through Jason Snyder who innocently purchased them from a seller he did not know. I contacted Jason, who was straightforward with me about how he acquired them. He has honorably sent them back home where they can continue to do the good work of outreach, inspiring young people to empower themselves through education here in Hawaii.
 
Jason Snyder is my hero today, and together with all the people who have helped me and everyone here on the list who have kept an eye open for my meteorites, I want to express my heartfelt and sincere thanks! Mahalo nui loa!

Ich hoffe, es hat sich für den Verkäufer nicht gelohnt. Was ist aus ihm geworden? Wurde Geld an ihm bezahlt, dass später zurück floss? Weiß jemand Genaues?
